What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper peptide complex consisting of the tripeptide Glycyl-Histidyl-Lysine bound to copper ions. This compound has been studied for over 40 years for its effects on collagen production, wound healing, tissue remodeling, and antioxidant activity. Research applications span dermatology, wound care, and regenerative medicine.
How Does GHK-Cu Work?
GHK-Cu acts by delivering bioavailable copper ions directly into cells, where copper serves as a cofactor for lysyl oxidase — an enzyme essential for cross-linking collagen and elastin. The GHK tripeptide itself activates genes involved in skin remodeling, including those encoding collagen, proteoglycans, and metalloproteinases. Research suggests GHK-Cu also modulates the ubiquitin-proteasome system and activates antioxidant defenses through upregulation of superoxide dismutase and catalase.
Research Applications
- Collagen and elastin production studies
- Wound healing and skin repair research
- Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory investigations
- Tissue remodeling and regeneration models
- Dermatological and cosmetic research applications
Specifications
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C protected from light. Once reconstituted, store at 4°C for up to 2 weeks. The copper complex is sensitive to oxidation; minimize air exposure. Recommended reconstitution solvent: sterile water.
For laboratory and research purposes only. Not for human consumption, veterinary use, or medical applications.
