What is Epithelan?
Epithelan is a peptide complex researched for its potential role in epithelial cell regeneration and telomere maintenance. Studies suggest this peptide may influence cellular aging processes and epithelial tissue repair. Research applications include dermatological studies, wound healing research, and cellular longevity investigations.
How Does Epithelan Work?
Epithelan is thought to act by stimulating telomerase activity in somatic cells, thereby elongating telomeres and extending the replicative lifespan of epithelial cells. It also modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary axis and has been shown to normalize melatonin secretion from the pineal gland in aged subjects in animal studies. Additionally, Epithelan appears to regulate gene expression through epigenetic mechanisms, reducing oxidative DNA damage markers and inflammatory cytokine output.
