What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a pentadecapeptide derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. Extensively researched for its effects on gastrointestinal healing, tendon and ligament repair, and neuroprotection. This peptide demonstrates remarkable stability in both acidic and basic environments.
How Does BPC-157 Work?
BPC-157 exerts its effects through multiple converging pathways. It upregulates growth hormone receptors in tendon fibroblasts, accelerating collagen synthesis and connective tissue repair. In the gastrointestinal tract, it modulates nitric oxide signaling and promotes mucosal healing by stimulating angiogenesis via VEGF upregulation. BPC-157 also demonstrates cytoprotective effects through interactions with the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, and exhibits direct anti-inflammatory activity by modulating NF-κB pathways.
